The Senate Has Approved The Sack Of CCT Chairman, Danladi Umar Due To Corruption And Allegations
The senate has authorized the president, Bola Tinubu to relief the chairman of the code of conduct tribunal Mr. Danladi Umar of his position over alleged misconduct and negligence.
The agreement of the senate followed its consideration and adoption of a motion titled, invocation of the provision of section 157 (1) of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999, as amended, for the removal of the chairman of the code of conduct tribunal.
The senate after hours of deliberation, came to a conclusions to invoke and activate the constitutional provision as in the section 157 (1). The chamber resolved to forward and address, supported by a two- thirds majority of the senate, to be carried out by the president of the federal republic of Nigeria for the official termination of Mr. Yakubu Danladi Umar, as the chairman of the code of conduct.
The development, stated that it would create an opportunity for the official resumption of Mr. Abdullahi Usman Bello as the new chairman of the tribunal. The senate leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele was in support of this motion.
The senate said that the action is necessary because Umar had allegedly falling short of the standard of public officer to conduct the affairs of such tribunal.
However Bamidele appeared before the committee only ones and afterwards hes avoided every other invitation as regards this development.
