David Umahi Defends Himself Againts Allegations, “I Was Not The Minister When 4.46 Billion Naira Went Missing”
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, on Wednesday the 20th of November said he was not yet the minister of works when the allegation of financial irregularities happened resulting to misappropriation of funds about the sum of 4.64 billion naira was embezzled out in the ministry.
The Auditor General of the Federation annual report had reportedly revealed the amount taken under the federal ministry of works (section). The report detailed the many problems including payments made without proper documentation, budgetary expenditures, mobilization fees and so many more. Following the due procedure.
However in a statement on Wednesday, the spokesman to Umahi, Mr. Uchenna orji, explained the importance of the current ministers pictures and name in the publication as a piece of petty and self-serving propaganda.
Uchenna Orji said, that the publication which was sponsored and circulated in different social media channels, is nothing but an intentional, fraudulent, and misrepresentation of the report of the auditor general of the federation.
